Have you ever taken stock of your life, your course of action, your "big plans" and realized it just isn't sitting right in your soul? Something is missing...but what? This weekend we were facing some of those big questions together as a couple. We had a 6+ hour car ride home from a wedding weekend in Philly and started brainstorming together. What is it we really want? What is our life's passion project? Can we look back and be proud of the life we've created together?
We came up with an idea that, once said out loud, seemed so perfect we immediately burst into tears. We want to give back. In a real way. In a big way. Both at home in the States and abroad.
The Name: Global Giveback Project
The Mission: We're giving back both at home and abroad...one Project at a time!
We're beginning the #GlobalGProject in a place very special to our family: The Abena Kwabena Academy in Ghana, West Africa. Jacob's family started the Academy in honor of his Grandmother and over the years the school has seen great success in enrollment numbers and student test scores but is also in need of great support. There are many improvements that are needed including improved sanitation, recreation and playground equipment, classroom supplies including maps and books, scholarship funds, and more. PROJECT 1 is to be focused on the school and the children who attend. What is it that they need? How can we make the biggest impact? We've partnered with school officials, family members, community members, and friends to ensure great success and are planning a trip to Ghana, West Africa to see it through in January, 2016. Here's the thing: We need your help!
